Seeley Lake 300 There will be another exciting weekend of racing from Seeley Lake to Lincoln again this year. 200 and 300 mile Iditarod qualifying races will be held on January 8, 9, 10, & 11, 2009. The entry fee for the 200 will be $350.00 which includes a non refundable $50.00 membership in M.U.T.T.. Purse money will be awarded for the 200. The entry fee for the 300 will be $400.00 which includes a non refundable $50.00 membership in M.U.T.T.. Purse money will be not awarded to those entering the 300. The application waiver and entry fee must be postmarked and received or hand delivered by midnight January 2, 2009. Applications received after that date and just prior to the musher meeting will be assessed a $200.00 late fee. Please apply as soon as the application and rules are available on this site. The sooner the race organizers know the number of mushers entered in this race, the better. Getting early numbers really helps the volunteers plan the banquet, musher and spectator parking, and other race related logistical issues. The 200 will be a 12 dog limit race and the 300 will be a 16 dog limit race with no handler assistance permitted. The combined races will be limited to 30 teams total. See the race rules for details regarding the application procedures. The race committee has decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from the races to the Humane Societies of Missoula and Helena. Increased pet food costs have put added strain on these programs and elderly pet owners and the Seeley Lake race will be giving them all the support it can. Mushers or spectators are encouraged to donate pet food for these centers. Pet food can be dropped off at the Seeley Lake Community Center on race weekend. |
